Looking back at the investment process and production activities since coming to Viet Nam, what are the most successful in your businesses when operating in Viet Nam?

Becamex Tokyu Co., Ltd is a Japanese enterprise which is investing in urban development in Viet Nam. From 2012 until now, what we feel has been most successful is bringing a Japanese-style urban development model in the New City in Binh Duong Province, including the development of Kaze Bus model, building high-quality housing and commercial services for residents and foreign experts working in Binh Duong Province, helping Viet Nam develop Binh Duong into a satellite urban model, and reducing the urban load on HCM City.

As a member of the Japan Business Association in Viet Nam, what do you think about the business and investment environment in Viet Nam and what are your suggestions for improving policies to help businesses operate effectively?

The investment environment in Viet Nam in general and Binh Duong Province in particular is becoming increasingly transparent and simplified, helping foreign enterprises feel secure about investing.

But we hope Viet Nam considers easing regulations for foreign investors when they want to invest in other countries or reinvest in their own countries. If these regulations are more open, I am sure many foreign investors will not hesitate to invest in Viet Nam.

Resolution No. 50-NQ / TW was signed to strengthen institutions and policies to enhance the quality and efficiency of foreign investment co-operation from now through 2030. The resolution prioritises projects with advanced technologies and clean technologies. So, in future, how will the association, investors and enterprises orient their plans to take advantage of these priorities?

We always try to develop projects associated with the sustainable development of Viet Nam. From the start of the construction of the project in Binh Duong New City, we have been working with people in Binh Duong for environmental clean-up activities and encouraging people to use public buses instead of motorcycles when going into the city.

Currently Binh Duong is a pioneer in Viet Nam in developing in the direction of smart cities, and we are trying our best with the Binh Duong government to develop projects according to the general trend of the province such as using energy-efficient systems, waste sorting and recycling.

We hope the success of Binh Duong New City will make it a typical urban model in Viet Nam for sustainable urban development like in advanced countries around the world. — VNS
